Jean Fontaine receives the title of Commander of the Order of Agricultural Merit

This recognition is awarded to professionals who have made an outstanding contribution to agriculture, agri-food, or to the advancement of the agronomy profession in Quebec and globally.

A graduate in animal nutrition from Université Laval, Jean Fontaine is renowned for his visionary thinking, innovative mindset, and commitment to animal health. In 2020, he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal, recognizing his global impact in animal nutrition and the agri-food industry.

A Key Driver of Economic and Social Development in Saint-Hyacinthe
A prominent figure in the Saint-Hyacinthe region, Jean Fontaine is also celebrated for his community involvement. Through the Jefo Foundation, more than $123,000 in scholarships were awarded in 2023 to students in animal nutrition across Quebec. The company also supports several regional initiatives, including the municipal library and the Espace Saint-Hyacinthe, home to the Pavillon Jefo, a 50,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall with capacity for 1,400 guests.
